Road Trips Continue For Fortner's Tigers

Nell Fortner's Tigers have played one home game since Nov. 18 and have two games in Philadelphia before returning home.

Philadelphia, Pa.--The 15th-ranked Auburn women's basketball team will take on the Davidson Wildcats in the Hawk Clasics at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse at 3 p.m. CST on Friday in Philadelphia.

Auburn opened the season with three home wins, but will be playing its ninth neutral or away game in the last 10 contests. The Tigers are 11-1 and Davidson is 6-4 and unranked.

The Tigers will play again on Saturday against St. Joseph's or NJIT. Coach Nell Fortner's squad has already won two tournaments this year taking titles at Ohio State and at Arizona State.

Auburn is led in scoring and rebounds this season by junior DeWanna Bonner. The guard/forward is averaging 17.2 points and 9.3 rebounds while the Wildcats are led in both categories by junior forward Mercedes Robinson (11.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg).

Friday's meeting is the first between the two schools in women's basketball.

The Tigers return for a home game against George Washington on Jan. 3 and open the SEC on Jan. 10 at Tennessee.
