"I stand good. Coach Muschamp called me the day it happened and we talked. He was straight forward with me about everything and he's always been like that. He recruited my brother (Mit Cole to LSU) and myself--and he didn't go into detail--but he told me it was the best thing for himself and his family right now. I have the utmost respect for him and I think he'll do great there."
What advice did he give you? Did he tell you to stick with Auburn?
"He told me that Auburn was a great place and he didn't leave because he didn't like Auburn. He just felt that the move was the best thing for him. He's not the type of guy to try to sway my decision. He told me all of the other coaches were going to be there and still wanted me to come. I didn't pick Auburn just because of him. He was the person that recruited me at first, but I picked Auburn because I like the town and I like the program. I think I fit in well there."
How did you find out about Muschamp leaving?
"My dad told me when it first came out. I didn't know. He said there might be there some rumors about it. Then Coach Muschamp called me the night of, about 4:30 or 5 o'clock that night we talked. That's pretty much how I found out."
Have you been contacted by any other Auburn coaches?
"I keep in touch with Coach (Don) Dunn. He calls me once a week and I call him whenever I want. I stay in contact with him very regularly."
What has Dunn been telling you?
"We've talked about it. He said that it was going to be a loss for them, but he said that Coach (Tommy) Tuberville wasn't going to bring somebody in that wasn't qualified. He was going to get somebody that's a good coach. They still hoped that I was still 100 percent Auburn and I told him I was. That's pretty much all that was said about that. We just talked about the future, my visit and getting things set up."
Are you going to be keeping a pretty close eye on the hiring of a new defensive coordinator?
"Yes sir. I want to see who gets the job because I'm sure they'll be the defensive backs coach as well. I'm going to keep a close eye on it and see who they hire. I think anyone they pick is going to be good. Coach Tuberville and the staff aren't going to hire someone that they're not comfortable and confident with."
Do you have an official visit lined up?
"Yes sir, the weekend of the 11th (Jan.)."
Is that the only official visit you're taking anywhere?
Anything else going on?
"No, that's about it. Just getting ready to run track."
"The 100, the 200, the 4x100 and 4x200 relay."
