Good News for AU Football Recruit

An Auburn University football recruiting report is featured.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn football verbal commitment DeRon Furr is now officially an Auburn University student.

On Friday he was approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse and AU officials to enroll in spring semester classes as an early graduate from Carver High School in Columbus, Ga.

Furr led Carver to its first ever state football title as a senior playing for Coach Dell McGee, the former Auburn defensive back.

Furr proved to be a clutch performer in Carver's run to the AAA state title.

Furr will be able to participate in winter workouts with his new teammates as well participate in spring training and compete in the annual A-Day Game that is scheduled for Saturday, March 29th.

The quarterback will see a familiar face on the Auburn campus this weekend. Jarmon Fortson, his favorite target at Carver High, is taking an official recruiting visit to AU this weekend.

Furr will join the competition for playing time this spring with junior college transfer Chris Todd along with returnees Kodi Burns and Neil Caudle. Blake Field, who would have been a redshirt senior, has transferred to Valdosta State in hopes of earning playing time there.
