Hood To Take Official Visit

A report on Tiger commitment D'Antoine Hood is featured.

Phenix City, Ala.--It's another big recruiting weekend in Auburn, but four of the incoming prospects are currently committed to the Tigers. One of those is cornerback D'Antoine Hood of Central-Phenix City High School.

"How is the campus life?" Hood ponders. "I really want to know how the people are and how people interact with the football players outside of football."

Hood, who plans majoring in Marketing, adds that he plans on taking a longer look into the academics while on his official visit. "I think their facilities are one of the top of the line in the nation. And the academic facilities are some of the top in the nation from what I've seen."

Hood has had two cousins attend Auburn University in the past, including current Arizona Cardinal Roderick Hood.

"Roderick's brother went to Auburn, too," he explains. "They said it's a good atmosphere. Everybody is friendly and everybody gets along.

"Roderick has told me that (Tommy) Tuberville is a great coach," Hood continues. "He says he's one of the best coaches he's ever had. He was like, ‘There's going to come a point in time in two-a-days when he pushes you.' He was saying that he gets his players prepared for the next level."

Hood was one of the top defensive backs at a summer senior camp at Auburn.

The 5-10, 185-pound defensive back commitment has been recruited to Auburn by linebackers coach James Willis. However, he doesn't yet know who will his defensive backs coach and coordinator. Tuberville is expected to announce his new coordinator any day.

"They really haven't told me anything yet," Hood states. "He's still in the process. I've been hearing rumors on the Internet that they might promote Coach Willis to defensive coordinator.

"I'm kind of just waiting for it to happen right now," he adds. "I'm pretty confident that whoever comes in is going to do a good job with the defense and he's going to get us ready."
