Tigers Sign Mississippi Cornerback

A national football signing day update is featured.

Picayune, Miss.—Cornerback Drew Cole, who was one of the Tigers' first commitments of the 2008 signing class back on March 28 of 2007, has signed to play football at Auburn.

Cole's primary position at Picayune Memorial High School and expected position at Auburn is cornerback, but he was also a standout running back for the Maroon Tide.

Cole, whose older brother Mit Cole played tight end the last four seasons at LSU, attended summer camps at Auburn, LSU and Southern Miss. He chose the Tigers over scholarship offers from Mississippi State and Stanford.

Former Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp recruited Mit Cole to LSU and was also a lure for Drew Cole to Auburn. However, he never waivered his decision when Muschamp left for Texas and Paul Rhoads was named Auburn's new DC.

At 6-0, 181, Cole is one of a handful of defensive back recruits expecting to sign with Auburn on signing day.
