Tigers Sign Star QB From Birmingham

Birmingham, Ala.—Alabama's 5A Back of the Year, quarterback Barrett Trotter of Briarwood Christian, has signed and faxed his paperwork to become an Auburn Tiger.

He is one of three new scholarship quarterbacks expected to be with the Tigers in 2008, with DeRon Furr and Chris Todd enrolling in January. However, the offensive system put in place at Briarwood that Trotter ran so efficiently is new offensive coordinator Tony Franklin's system.


Running the spread, Trotter led the Lions to the Super Six at Legion Field as a senior.

At 6-1, 195 pounds, Trotter finished his prep career with nearly 8,000 yards passing and 88 touchdowns through the air under head coach Fred Yancey.

After several standout performances at Auburn summer camps throughout his high school career, Trotter drew and offer from the Tigers early his impressive senior season and almost immediately accepted the offer. He gave his verbal pledge to the Auburn coaches on Sept. 29.
