Tigers Sign Four-Star O-Lineman

A football national signing day report is featured.

Chatham, Va.–After signing with Auburn in February of 2007 and spending a season at Hargrave Military Academy, Jermaine Johnson has again signed his scholarship papers with Auburn.

At 6-6, 309 pounds and tremendously athletic for his size, Johnson may have a shot at early playing time for the Tigers.

Johnson's first year of football was his senior year at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale. He was high school teammates with current Auburn kicker Wes Byrum and fellow Tiger recruits Christian Thompson and Philip Pierre-Louis.

As evindence by the 2007 season, Auburn's coaches are not afraid to give freshmen a shot to play at offensive line. Ryan Pugh, Lee Ziemba and Chaz Ramsey all started as freshmen for the Tigers and Johnson will compete with those players this fall.

Johnson is expected to be the only new face on scholarship on the Auburn offensive line when he reports this summer.

Johnson, pictured in a practice at Hargrave, is an impressive-looking physical specimen.
