Fla. Tight End Headed To Auburn

A national signing day update on Vance Smith is featured.

Pace, Fla.—A lifelong Auburn fan, Pace High School tight end Vance Smith, who verbally committed to Auburn at the 2007 A-Day game, has signed and sent his fax to become and Auburn Tiger.

A three-sport star at Pace, Smith plays basketball and is on the track team, as well as being the 37th-ranked tight end in high school football by Scout.com.

After getting looks from several schools like Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss, Smith ended this recruiting process early with his verbal to Auburn on March 17.

He joins a talented group of tight ends including Tommy Trott, Gabe McKenzie, Bailey Woods and Brent Slusher that is expected to enjoy a larger role in the offense under new coordinator Tony Franklin.

Smith, pictured above, is one of many signees who camped at Auburn during the summer of 2007.
