Auburn Adds Smooth Lineman

Freddie Smooth signed with the Tigers on Wednesday.

Baton Rouge, La.--Defensive tackle Freddie Smooth has signed his letter of intent and his scholarship forms to become an Auburn Tiger.

After narrowing his list of high-profile programs to Auburn and Oklahoma, the Desire Street Academy standout chose to commit to Auburn on Jan. 25. The 6-4, 308 Smooth looks to operate as a defensive tackle at Auburn.

Smooth was rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com and is ranked the No.53 defensive tackle in the country. He played offensive guard and defensive tackle for coach Mickey Joseph at Desire Street.

Auburn returns several talented players on the defensive front, but with the departures of Josh Thompson and Pat Sims, Smooth could be a candidate for early playing time with the Tigers.
