A day later, the Northview High standout officially signed scholarship papers to play for Auburn, his long-time favorite.
A 6-1, 210 with sub 4.5 speed in the 40 and a 390-pound bench press and a plus 40-inch vertical jump, he is an impressive physical specimen. On the field he had a big senior year, racking up 146 tackles as a senior.
Northview High coach Chip Harris says, "One of the great things about Spencer is his character," Harris says. "His character and integrity is second to none. Athletic-wise he's just so fast and strong. He's the fastest player I've ever coached and to be a linebacker that's unusual. Usually you've got running backs that are a little faster.
"That's the biggest thing and he's by far the strongest kid I've ever coached," Harris adds. "There's not even a close second. His character and integrity are top notch, but his biggest asset is his speed."
