Difton, 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, has a top five in mind already.
Auburn -- "I like Auburn and have a few teammates going there. I'll be coming to their camp."
USC -- "USC's a great program and I'm trying to get in touch with them to see if they're gonna recruit me."
Miami -- "I like UM a lot. I talk to them about every week. I've been there for camp before and I'll be going again this year. They're trying to get me down for one of their spring practices to meet the new receivers coach."
USF -- "I like how it's an up and rising program."
Florida State -- "They have a lot of tradition there."
Difton talked about what he'll be looking for in a school when it comes time to make a decision.
"Can I come in and play is the biggest thing," he said. "I don't want to redshirt, I don't think that's for me. I don't have a leader or anything right now."
The talented receiver put his name on the recruiting map last season after a big sophomore year at Ely. As a junior at St. Thomas last season, Difton finished the year with 19 catches for 276 yards and two touchdowns. He helped lead his team to the Class 5A state championship.
"I believe my route-running separates me," he said. "I'm always analyzing film and our receivers coach (NFL Hall of Famer Cris Carter) does a great job of teaching us how to break down DB's. I feel like I do those things well. Plus, I ran a 4.57 laser 40 time at a combine last week and that was one of the fastest times there. They said that would be like running a 4.4 or something without the laser."
Inside the classroom, Difton carries a 2.5 GPA and has not yet taken the test.
