Back on Auburn's campus to check out the first spring scrimmage, Travis brought his mother along to see the campus and meet the coaches. He says it couldn't have been any better as far as he's concerned.
"It was a real great trip," Travis says. "It was the first college I've gotten to take my mom to. She's going to have a lot to do with what college I go to. She was impressed. That puts Auburn in a pretty good spot. She loved it. If she likes it that's big."
Travis says he's starting to like the Auburn football program, but is a long way away from making a decision.
"To tell you the truth I was actually an Alabama fan growing up, but now I'm strictly Auburn," he says. "I'm a big Auburn fan.
"I'm going to look at everybody seriously," Travis adds. "I'm still wide open to where I'm going to go. I haven't really thought about where I'm going to go yet."
Auburn was the first college to offer the big lineman and from there the offers have started to flow in. While his choices are increasing, he notes Auburn is right at the top.
"Auburn is in real good shape," Travis says. "They are in my top three along with Alabama and Georgia Tech. I've got offers from all those schools as well as Florida State."
Looking back on his first visit this spring for the opening of spring practice and the Auburn-Alabama basketball game Travis says he heard nothing but positives from the players and one player in particular that he knows very well.
"I got to meet all of the coaches and talked to my teammates that I played with that play at Auburn."
Former Neal High offensive tackle Jared Cooper is a redshirt freshman working at second team tackle this spring. "He was just telling me how much he loves it and that he wouldn't trade it for anywhere else," Travis says of Cooper.
With two trips in the bag to Auburn, Travis will hit the road again this weekend for a return trip to Tuscaloosa. The visit is one of what he says is two more visits this spring before he tones things down to concentrate on finishing his junior year strong in the classroom.
"As of now I haven't planned a trip to Georgia Tech, but I think in the summer I will," Travis says. "I'm going on at least two more trips this spring because this Saturday I'm going to Alabama. I'm going to try to take one more before the summer and cool down until then."
