Big Lineman Commits to Tigers

Auburn has picked up another football verbal commitment for next year's signee class.

Greenville, Ala.--Auburn picked up its third verbal commitment for the 2009 signee class on Saturday when Jamontay Pilson selected the Auburn Tigers.

A 6-3, 258 defensive end and defensive tackle, Pilson is expected to be one of the top prospects in the state of Alabama this fall as a senior. He was in attendance at Saturday's A-Day game and says he knew it was time to make his decision.

"Yes sir, I committed," Pilson tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I just wanted to go ahead and do it. The game was fun. I told Coach (Tommy Tuberville) today. He was pretty excited."

Pilson was a standout at the Combine in Mobile earlier this year. He says he plans to attend the Elite Camp in Auburn on April 27 as well.

He joins juco linebacker Eltoro Freeman and defensive end Terrence Coleman as Auburn verbals for the 2009 signee class.

"My strength is run stopping and being able to move," says Pilson, who had 50 solo tackles as a junior with 47 assists. "Those are my strengths. I have to work on seeing the whole field. Our coaches tell me I've got tunnel vision when the play starts so I'm going to work on that."

The lineman had 12 quarterback sacks as a junior.
