AU Wide Receiver Heading to NFL Camp

Auburn University's Prechae Rodriguez will have a chance to play professional football.

Auburn, Ala.--Undrafted wide receiver Prechae Rodriguez will get a chance to play in the National Football League with the New York Jets as a free agent.

The 6-4, 208-pound Auburn senior from Tampa, Fla., caught 11 passes for 122 yards as a senior. In the opener vs. Kansas State he had a career-best game with six catches for 73 yards.

Rodriguez was a basketball player in high school before switching to football in college.

As a junior he made 14 catches for 168 yards with a touchdown vs. Alabama.

In his first season at Auburn, after transferring from Coffeyville, Kan., Community College, he caught 13 passes and 240 yards with one touchdown.

He had 39 catches for 553 yards as a freshman at Coffeyville.

Rodriguez, who has good speed and is an excellent leaper, has also been courted by Canadian Football League teams and is expected to have a chance to play north of the border if he doesn't make it with the Jets.
