Thompson Heading to Pro Training Camp

Auburn senior defensive lineman will have a chance to play in the National Football League.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn's leading tackler for the 2007 season, senior noseguard Josh Thompson, will get a chance to play pro football with the St. Louis Rams.

Thompson, 5-11, 304 pounds from Statesboro, Ga., finished the 2007 season with 27 solo tackles and 40 assists.

The defensive lineman finished his college career with a streak of 26 consecutive starts and ended up with a total of 138 tackles as a four-year contributor for Coach Tommy Tuberville's Tigers.

Thompson, who is known was as his team's strongest player in the weight room, was in on 44 tackles as a junior after making just four the previous season when he was limited by injuries.

As a redshirt freshman on Auburn's 2004 unbeaten team, he played in 13 games and made 24 tackles.
