"I was just talking about it with some friends," Savage tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "It's unreal. I still don't believe it yet. I guess it has to hit me first."
Currently checking in at 6-3, 270, Savage says that he's spent much of the spring working out to prepare for this fall in addition to throwing the shot put and discus for the track team. He says at the moment he's working to get in better shape to prepare him for what is to come.
"I can barely move now," Savage says. "I worked out today after school. I have been steadily working out."
To help him better understand the life of a football player at Auburn, Savage says he's talked with several of the current Tigers, players that will be his teammates in a matter of months. Two in particular have become confidants as well as two fellow signees.
"I have talked to Sen'Derrick Marks on occasion and also Jerraud Powers," Savage says. "I just recently talked to Barrett Trotter and D'Antoine Hood as well. Sen'Derrick is pretty much telling me to be humble and come in and work hard. Jerraud said the same thing. D'Antoine and Barrett just said they were excited as I was."
A solid student, Savage says that he's done everything to be qualified for the fall and is now just waiting on his clearance from the NCAA. With everything in the books now all that remains is getting to Auburn and suiting up in the orange and blue. Savage says that's something he's ready for.
"It's unbelievable," Savage says. "I can't wait. I really can't wait."
