Juco Center Interested in Playing for AU

A report on a junior college basketball center is featured.

Spartanburg, S.C.--Brendon Knox, a 6-10, 222-pound junior college center, has verbally committed to play basketball for the 2008-2009 season for the Auburn Tigers.

Brian T. Fulkerson, director of public information for Spartanburg Methodist College, said on Friday, "Brendon is committed to play at Auburn. He has been an awesome player for us. I would say he is the best player at our college in many years."

However, before Knox can play for Auburn or any other Division I program he has academic work to do so it is not certain what his status is for the coming year or if he will sign with the Tigers.

Knox, who took an official visit to Auburn earlier this month, averaged 12 points and 9.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore for the Pioneers, who finished the season with a 24-8 record. He is originally from Georgetown, S.C.

The center finished seventh nationally in field goal percentage. He made 70.2 percent of his 188 shots.

He has also been recruited by North Carolina State, Wichita State and Winthrop. Knox blocked 168 shots as a sophomore.
