Talented Wide Receiver Up To Four Offers

This physical wide receiver prospect talks recruiting and his summer plans.

Tampa, Fla.--Being the son of former Major League Baseball standout Fred McGriff, Jesuit wide receiver Erick McGriff has already seen his share of the spotlight in the sports world, but now it's his turn. A highly regarded football prospect for 2009, McGriff says the recruiting attenion has been picking up over the last few months and he only expects it to continue.

"Yes sir, things are pretty busy," McGriff tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I have offers from Arkansas, Kansas, Troy, Cincinnati as well as Auburn. I don't have a favorite yet. It's still pretty early right now."

At 6-3, 195, McGriff is a physical wide receiver prospect for Jesuit, one of the powerhouse schools in the Tampa area. Also a basketball prospect, McGriff says he's currently playing some summer basketball before heading out to football camps at Auburn, Florida and Boston College.

McGriff recently took part in a camp at the University of Georgia. While he doesn't have an offer from the Bulldogs, he says he enjoyed the trip and likes what he saw while in town.

"It was good," McGriff says. "It was just an individual camp."

Among the schools he's considering McGriff says he's already got a feel for what the Auburn program is all about because of several friends who attend school on the Plains. He says because of that he's comfortable with what he knows about the Tigers to this point.

"I know they are very good and very consistent every year," McGriff says. "Auburn is always in the Top 25. That's good. The change in offense is also exciting."

As a junior McGriff had a productive junior season for Jesuit as a wide receiver with 550 yards and four touchdowns through the air. He also excels on special teams with two kickoff returns for touchdowns and a punt return for a score as well.
