Update on 2008 Auburn Football Signees

An update is featured on Auburn's 2008 football recruiting class.

Auburn, Ala.--Running back Eric Smith from Armwood High School in Seffner, Fla., has reported to campus to begin his transition to college.

Smith is the ninth Auburn football signee to arrive this week and those signees joined four other February signees who arrived in May plus four others who have been on campus since January.

Smith broke onto the scene as a prospect to watch when he rushed for more than 1,000 yards as a sophomore. After his senior season, he narrowed his choices to Auburn and Clemson before deciding to play in the SEC.

More Auburn signees are expected to report later this month to attend Camp War Eagle, take classes and begin offseason workouts with their new teammates. The Tigers begin preseason football practice on August 2nd.

Players who have arrived on campus this week include Andre Wadley from Hernando, Miss., High; Darvin Adams from Harrison High in Kennesaw, Ga.; Harry Adams from Dillard High in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Derrick Lykes from Chilton County High in Clanton; Jomarcus Savage from J.O. Johnson in Huntsville; Cameron Henderson from Shades Valley High in Irondale.; D'Antoine Hood of Central High in Phenix City and Philip Pierre-Louis from St. Thomas Aquinas High in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Derrick Lykes is a prospect who could play either defensive end or tackle.

Players expected to report later this month include: safety Christian Thompson from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale; defensive back T'Sharvan Bell, from Osceola High in Kissimmee, Fla.; safety Marcus Jemsion from McAdory High; tight end Vance Smith from Pace, Fla., High; running back Reggie Hunt from Daphne High and deep snapper Dax Dellenbach from North Broward in Coconut Creek, Fla.

It will be later in the summer before it is determined whether defensive back Neiko Lipscomb from Tucker, Ga., High and offensive tackle Jermaine Johnson from Hargrave Military Academy make it to campus with this class as qualifiers.

Four members of the signee class arrived in May--cornerback Drew Cole from Picayune Memorial High in Mississippi, linebacker Spencer Pybus from Northview High in Dothan, quarterback Barrett Trotter from Briarwood Christian in Birmingham and wide receiver Derek Winter from Plant High in Tampa.

Signees Da'Shaun Barnes, a linebacker, plus athlete DeRon Furr, who is now playing safety after working at quarterback in the spring, enrolled at Auburn in January along with juco transfers Raven Gray, a defensive end, and quarterback Chris Todd.
