Speedy Georgia DB Pulls The Trigger

A player who enjoyed himself at a recent Auburn camp has decided to become a Tiger.

Fort Valley, Ga.--A standout at a recent Auburn football two-day football camp as well as the Scout.com/Under Armour Combine in Atlanta made a decision on Tuesday as speedy defensive back Reggie Taylor from Peach County High School made his college pick.

"I committed to Auburn," Taylor tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "It was an easy choice for me. I like the school. My homeboy Chris Slaughter goes there and he told me all about it.

"I wanted to see it for myself," he adds about his trip to the Auburn camp. "I came in this morning and told my coach it was Auburn."

A 5-9 1/2 167-pounder, Taylor is a three-year starter for the powerhouse Georgia program and had 22 solo tackles, 15 assists and three interceptions as a junior.

In addition to Auburn, Taylor says he was receiving strong interest from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Middle Tennessee State, Memphis and several other programs.

He becomes Auburn's 17th verbal commitment for the 2009 class and the sixth to come out of last weekend's camp joining Aaron Moore, LaDarius Perkins, Travante Stallworth, Andre Harris and LaVoyd James.

The cornerback says that Auburn coaches were impressed enough by what he did at the on-campus camp to offer a scholarship. "They told me they really liked my footwork and my speed," he says, noting he was clocked in the 4.4s in the 40. "They told me they like how hard I worked at the camp."

Taylor points out he made the trip to the Auburn two-day camp in June with a specific goal. "I told my dad I was going over there and I was going to come back with a scholarship offer," the defensive back says. "I told him I wasn't going home without one."

Taylor says he does well in the classroom, noting that he makes "A's and B's." He plans to major in physical therapy in college.

He also competes in track running the 100 meters, the 4x100 relay and the 300 hurdles. "I ran a 10.7 flat at the regional meet," he says. "I have been working on my speed."
