Montgomery, Ala.--One of the fastest senior football prospects in the state of Alabama announced on Tuesday that he is committing to sign with the Tulane Green Wave for the class of 2009.

Wilson Van Hooser of Trinity Presbyterian notes he made up his mind after receiving a scholarship offer from the Green Wave after attending a football camp at Tulane's campus in New Orleans from Thursday through Saturday.

"I made my decision and I am going to attend Tulane," says Van Hooser. "I feel great about my choice. The academic credentials of Tulane are extraordinary and that was a huge factor in my decision.

"I understand their finance program is one of the top ones in the world and that is what I am planning on majoring in there," he says.

Van Hooser, who is 5-11, 175 pounds, has been clocked at under 4.5 in the 40 on multiple occasions at football campus and combines. He notes that coaches at Tulane told him he had the fastest time at the camp over the weekend. He used that speed to catch 43 passes for 749 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

Tulane was the first major program to offer a scholarship and he says he is firmly committed. "I feel really good about my decision," he notes. "I am glad to get recruiting done so I can concentrate on my senior season."

Van Hooser called the Green Wave coaching staff on Tuesday afternoon and talking to the recruiting coordinator and head coach Bob Toledo. "I believe I am their first commitment for the 2009 class and they were real excited when I told them I was coming to Tulane," the wide receiver says.
