Patrick Miller, a 5-10, 170-pound cornerback from Hoover High, has three early offers.
"Right now recruiting is going well for me," Miller says. "Oregon offered me and I am really excited about that offer. They found out about me through coaches they know.
Miller notes that he is hoping to catch the eyes of in-state coaches at Auburn and Alabama. "I am getting some attention from Auburn," he says. "I went to camp down there and Auburn is one of my favorite schools.
"I went to the two-day camp at Auburn and it was really good," he adds. "There were a lot of talented receivers and a lot of talented DBs there. I ran the 40 there and I was in the high 4.4s. I haven't been to a camp at Alabama yet."
The defensive back points out that he talks to Auburn assistant coach Terry Price, who recruits the Birmingham area. "Coach Price told me that I am one of the top prospects they are looking at so I hope they offer," Miller says. "I talked to Coach Rhoads (AU's defensive coordinator and secondary coach) and he told me to keep up what I did at the camp and keep working hard.
Miller is shown at the Georgia Dome, where he worked out in an Undeer Armour/Scout.com Combine this week.
A two-year starter for the Bucs, Miller says he is working to add some more weight this summer. "I am trying to get up to 175," he says.
Speed is a strength for the rising junior. He says that he has multiple clockings at under 4.5 in camps and combines, including the Under Armour/Scout.com event at the Georgia Dome this week.
"I have run times of 4.44 and 4.42," he says.
The cornerback says he isn't certain on his junior stats. "I had three or four picks last year, and I took one back for a touchdown, and I had a lot of good breakups," he says. "I don't remember how many tackles."
