Stephen Hill, a rising senior at Locust Grove High School, showed excellent speed and all-around athletic ability at the combine and did a good job catching passes. He ran a 4.44 40-yard dash.
As a junior he had a productive year catching passes with eight of his 24 receptions going for scores. He gained 500 yards as a receiver and scored on a 95-yard kickoff return and on a 68-yard fumble return.
A prospect who says he has eight offers already, Hill doesn't have one from Auburn, but notes that he is interested in Coach Tommy Tuberville's Tigers.
"Auburn is recruiting me," he says. "Coach (Terry) Price recruits me for Auburn. I really like Auburn. I like their no-huddle offense and the way they really get the ball to their receivers."
The rising senior tested well in Atlanta. He showed major hops with a 38-inch vertical jump and agility with a 4.24 NFL short shuttle time.
"The combine was a great experience," Hill says of the event at the Georgia Dome. "It was the first camp that I went through the 40, did the three-cone drill and the L-cone."
Hill ran a 4.61 on his first tested 40, but came back and ran a 4.44 on his second try, which he says is his fastest ever. He measured in at the combine at 6-3 1/2, 190.
Hill, who also plays safety in high school, says he prefers offense. "I like wide receiver the most because I like to catch the ball and I especially like to score," Hill says.
