A 6-3, 250-pounder, he is scheduled to sign with Auburn in December. He will have three seasons of eligibility at the Division I level and plays a position where the Tigers are short on numbers.
With 18 quarterback sacks this season, he's one of the most sought-after players in the junior college ranks and he took a visit to last weekend to see the Georgia at AU game.
"I liked the atmosphere," McClain said. "The crowd and the fans and the people, Auburn is just a great place to be. They support the team a lot. That's what I've been looking for. If they give me a chance hopefully I can help those guys win the SEC easily next year. It's a great place."
McLain was one of four official visitors. The group included his teammate, TB Brandon Jacobs, and a pair of high school defensive ends, Quentin Grooves from Greenville, Miss., and Trannell Morant from Braddock High in Miami, Fla.
