*Fan Day drew what appeared to be a larger crowd than last year. Among the most popular players was newcomer, Chris Todd, who posed for a lot of photos with female fans. The quarterback had a good day throwing the ball on Saturday as he tries to make a claim for the open No. 1 QB spot.
*The most popular Tiger at Fan Day was Tommy Tuberville. Although the two-hour event officially ended at 5 p.m., Auburn's head football coach signed an autograph or posed for a photo for everybody who wanted one. The coach finished at 7 p.m. When I got to the coliseum about 2:20 p.m. today there was already a huge line for the coach that went out of the coliseum floor into the first floor hallway.
*Sen'Derrick Marks and Antonio Coleman had big crowds for autographs as did Kodi Burns and Wes Byrum. Among the younger players, Lee Ziemba was popular with fans and he stayed well past the end of Fan Day to accommodate fans who wanted his autograph.
*Freshman cornerback Harry Adams said he was really surprised at large number of people at Fan Day. Adams said it was a reminder that he isn't in high school anymore.
*Junior Aairon Savage looked good at cornerback in drills on Saturday.
Sophomore defensive lineman, who was slowed by injuries last year, is hoping to make a push for playing time this season.
*Tailback Ben Tate, who is still just 19 years going into his junior season, says he feels like he is a much better player going into the 2008 season than he was to the 2007 season.
*Defensive end Raven Gray said his knee felt "real good" after his first workout as an Auburn Tiger.
*Mario Fannin, because of his shoulder surgery earlier this year, was allowed to wear shoulder pads for Saturday's no pads workout.
*Freshman cornerback Neiko Lipscomb, a 2008 signee, has officially changed his last name to Thorpe.
*The Tigers worked on kickoff coverage on day one of preseason practice, something the coaches say is going to be a point of emphasis heading into the opener.
