Tigers Czech In And Take Exhibition Victory

Coach Nell Fortner's Tigers arrived in European on Saturday and picked up a basketball victory on Sunday.

Prague, Czech Republic--The Auburn women's basketball team opened its European exhibition tour with a 113-59 victory on Sunday vs. Sparta Prague.

Sherrell Hobbs led the Tigers with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five steals while fellow senior DeWanna Bonner finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior center Keke Carrier, who did not play last season, made her comeback and also posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. She was suspended from the team by Coach Nell Fortner for unspecified reasons last season.

The Tigers jumped to a 31-13 lead after the first quarter and were never seriously challenged in the first of four exhibition games.

Ree-Ree Hobbs, who was out last season with an ankle injury, scored eight points and added two rebounds. Whitney Boddie, who missed the second semester due to an academic suspension last season, chipped in with with points and two rebounds.

The Tigers will play again on Tuesday vs. Hradec Kralove.
