Monday Auburn Football Practice Notes Part I

News and notes from Auburn's first of two Monday football practices is featured.

*The field goal kickers have had a solid preseason and that continued in the first of two practices on Monday as Wes Byrum and Morgan Hull were each 3-3 on kicks of 37, 35 and 47 yards. Clayton Crofoot held for Byrum's kicks while backup QB Neil Caudle held for Hull.

*Former Tiger offensive linemen Rob Shuler and Steve Wallace stopped by to watch the practice. Wallace lives in the Atlanta area and Shuler lives in Nashville. Both players were standouts for Pat Dye teams in the 1980s and Wallace was an NFL All-Pro tackle for the San Francisco '49ers. His nephew, running back Brandon Jacobs, has verbally committed to sign with Auburn in February.

*Ryan Pugh was back at practice and worked as the number one center with Jason Bosley still out of action as a back problem. Mike Berry worked with the ones at right tackle in Pugh's spot. Lee Ziemba worked as the number one left tackle next to guard Tyronne Green and Byron Isom is the number one right guard.

*The two offensive line featured freshman walk-on Clay Clark at center flanked by guards Jared Cooper and Kyle Coulahan with Bart Eddins and Andrew McCain at the tackles.

*Junior tight end Tommy Trott made another impressive one-handed catch on Monday.

*Freshman safety Marcus Jemison's injury suffered last week is a cracked bone in his leg. Jemison was expected to be redshirted and that will definitely be the case.

*Freshman cornerback Harry Adams missed practice on Monday, but could be back for the second practice in the afternoon. He became ill at Sunday evening's workout.

*Mike Blanc worked as the number one noseguard in the 11 on 11 session to close practice with Jake Ricks number two. That is one of the closest battles on the team for a starting spot.

*Freshmen D'Antoine Hood and Neiko Thorpe worked as the second team cornerbacks on Monday behind Jerraud Powers and Walt McFadden.

*The wide receivers and offensive line stayed after practice for additional drills.
