Tigers Blow By Nitra BCC To Win Again

Bratislava, Slovakia--Point guard Whitney Boddie scored 18 points and added 10 assists as the Auburn women's basketball team posted a 75-46 exhibition victory over Nitra BBC Slovakia.

The Tigers wrapped up their three-game road trip to Eastern Europe with three lopsided victories. A fourth game scheduled against a team from Hungary has been cancelled.

DeWanna Bonner scored 17 points, pulled down nine rebounds and added four steals for the Tigers.

"This is a great way to begin our season," Auburn coach Nell Fortner said. "I am very proud of how we played the last three games. We pushed the ball well today and played good defense. We had some players really step it up on this trip and I have seen improvements from everyone.

"It has been really great to have Whitney Boddie, KeKe Carrier and Reneisha Hobbs back on the court," Fortner said. Boddie missed the second half of the season last year due to academic issues, Hobbs was out of action with an injury and Carrier was held out of action all season due to off the court issues.

"After seeing us in action the last three games, we are all very excited and ready to start our year," Fortner said." What a better way to do that than with three wins in Europe."

Trevesha Jackson and Alli Smalley scored 10 points apiece for the Tigers while Carrier added eight, Reneisha Hobbs scored six while Sherrell Hobbs and Jordan Greenleaf each finished with four points.

The Tigers are scheduled to tour Slovakia and Austria before returning to Auburn on Sunday.
