Part 2, Friday Auburn Football Notes

Additional news and notes on the Auburn football team are featured as the Tigers reach the halfway point of preseason drills.

Auburn, Ala.--More notes from Auburn's football practices on Friday are featured.

*The Tigers had a light workout in the second session with part of the team in shells (helmets, shoulder pads) and others in shorts. The Tigers spent about an hour on the kicking game and 35 minutes in team drills.

*The second practice this evening was the final two-a-days workout for 2008. The Tigers got through the session with only one season-ending injury to a projected starter--cornerback Aairon Savage, who is out after having ACL surgery.

*Coach Tommy Tuberville estimates the team got in 20-25 percent more reps than an normal two-a-days because of the pace of Auburn's new offensive system installed by new coordinator Tony Franklin.

*Running back Brad Lester is expected to be held out with a sore ankle, Tuberville said.

*Running back Ben Tate, who has been nursing a sore shoulder, will be the first team tailback in the scrimmage and freshman Eric Smith will get a lot of work.

*Mario Fannin will be held out of the scrimmage due to what Tuberville says is a tight hamstring. Fannin is making a move to wide receiver from tailback and is also coming off of shoulder surgery that has kept him in a non-contact jersey throughout preseason.

*Defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks has a sore knee and will be held out of the scrimmage.

*Harry Adams, who missed practice time this week with a bruised lung, is expected to get a significant amount of action at cornerback in Saturday's scrimmage to see if he is ready for a backup position. Adams, a freshman from Dillard High in Fort Lauderdale, was a wide receiver prior to coming to college.
