Tuesday Auburn Football Practice Notes

News and notes from Auburn's Tuesday football practice are featured.

*Gabe McKenzie will play both ways, Tommy Tuberville said today after practice. He started practice today as a strongside defensive end, but will continue to work at tight end. Tommy Tuberville said Gabe suggested the move.

Steve Ensminger, who coaches the tight ends, says that McKenzie will probably spend the whole week of practice on defense.

*Freshman defensive end Jomarcus Savage did not practice on Tuesday with a sore shoulder, but the MRI report was good and he should be back soon, Tuberville said.

*Jake Ricks bruised his knee, but the injury isn't serious, Tuberville said.

*There is still no word yet on running back Reggie Hunt's academic status.

*The Tigers worked in full pads today against the scout teams.

*Brent Slusher, who is waiting to get cleared health-wise to practice, sprained his ankle at his dorm last night.

*With McKenzie splitting time on defense, true freshman Vance Smith may have a chance to see action at tight end, Ensminger said. Also, John Douglas, who can also play fullback, is seeing action at the tight end slot.

*Ensminger says that Terrell Zachery is his most improved player this season at the inside receiver slots.
