*Don Dunn, the defensive line coach, said Mike Blanc and Sen'Derrick are running number one "at the moment" at the two inside positions. Jake Ricks is No. 2 behind Sen'Derrick and Tez Doolittle is No. 2 behind Blanc, however, Dunn says that is subject to change. Zach Clayton is expected to play at both spots although he was held out of practice today with a neck sprain, but should be back soon, the coach noted.
*On the subject of Doolittle, Dunn said the sixth-year senior's progress has been surprising because the injury he had last August (Achilles tendon) has a normal recovery time of 12 to 14 months. Doolittle's not 100 percent yet, but is ready for game action.
*Junior linebacker Tray Blackmon said that his backup, sophomore Josh Bynes, is performing well enough to give him competition for playing time. He notes that Bynes is "still learning" and should continue to improve. Blakmon said he thought the Tigers had a really good practice today and added he likes the cool weather they had this morning "even though I am not a morning person."
*Another defensive player, end Antonio Coleman, was fired up after practice today. He said his hamstring feels good, his neck feels good and he is fired up and ready to play a football game.
*Coleman said he likes how Gabe McKenzie is showing he is physical player as a defensive end. A.C. says Gabe has a lot to learn, but predicts that McKenzie will be able to help the defense this year.
