Thursday Auburn Football Practice Notes

News and notes from Auburn's final pre-game football practice are featured.

Auburn, Ala.--The Tigers worked out at the football complex in shorts fine-tuning the game plan for Saturday's 6 p.m. kickoff vs. ULM.

The following are news and notes on the Tigers.

*There is still no word on who the starting quarterback will be for the opener. Tommy Tuberville says that everyone will find out on Saturday evening. Both Kodi Burns and Chris Todd took reps with the first offense on Thursday. After practice, Tommy Tuberville joked that Mario Fannin would open the game at QB.

*The Tigers had a spirited workout in shorts on Thursday morning, their final practice before Saturday's kickoff. Tuberville says warm and muggy session was the hottest since the first week of practice in August.

*The players and coaches will gather at the football complex on Friday afternoon and will take buses to LaGrange, Ga., to spend the evening there away from the on-campus pre-game hoopla. The Tigers will bus back to Auburn on Saturday afternoon and take their Tiger Walk to Jordan-Hare Stadium.

*Saturday evening's contest will mark the beginning of the 68th season the Tigers have played games at what was formerly Auburn Stadium, then Cliff Hare Stadium and now Jordan-Hare Stadium. AU's all-time record on the field is 261-64-7. AU's all-time attendance at the stadium is 19,986,213 fans.

*When the Tigers take the field vs. the ULM Warhawks, it will begin the 116h season of Auburn football.

*Tuberville said after practice at running back Tristan Davis will be ready to play in the opener, but wasn't sure if he would return kickoffs in week one. Ben Tate and Philip Pierre-Louis could be the number one kickoff returners and freshman Harry Adams and senior James Swinton could run back kickoffs, too.

Clinton Durst

*The coach notes it will be a game-time decision on who starts at punter with Clinton Durst the favorite to win the job over returning starter Ryan Shoemaker.
