week 3 Picks Contest

UAB (0-2) at Tennessee (0-1), 11:30 a.m. CDT, Raycom Sports
Jason's Take: The Blazers are giving up 47 points and over 500 yards of offense through two games. Tennessee enters after completely giving one away on the road last Monday at UCLA. Neil Calloway's squad is just what the doctor ordered. Tennessee 38, UAB 13

Mark's Take: The Blazers aren't exactly on fire offensively and the defense isn't anything to write home about either. This should be a walk in the park on Rocky Top. Tennessee 41, UAB 3

Stephen's Take: Tennessee is looking for someone to take out its frustrations after an overtime loss and bye week. The Blazers happily volunteer for a paycheck and a beating. Tennessee 45 UAB 20

dukeofga's Take: UAB is simply outmatched by a UT team looking to take out a frustrating loss on anybody. Tennessee 48 UAB 14

South Carolina's Steve Spurrier is looking for an answer at the quarterback position.

Georgia (2-0) at South Carolina (1-1), 2:30 p.m. CDT, CBS Sports
Jason's Take: The Gamecocks pulled off the upset in Athens last season but there will be no repeat performance this time around. South Carolina's defense is good enough to keep this one close for a little while but way too much Georgia offense spells the difference. Georgia 30, South Carolina 10

Mark's Take: The Gamecocks have generally played the Bulldogs tough in recent matchups, but South Carolina looks out of sync offensively and UGA is the kind of opponent that can exploit weaknesses in the opposition. Georgia 28, South Carolina 10

Stephen's Take: Going back to last October, Georgia has won nine straight games while the Gamecocks have lost seven of eight. The Bulldogs have won four straight SEC games while South Carolina has dropped five straight. I'm not sure what Vegas is thinking setting this line at single digits. Georgia 31 South Carolina 7

dukeofga's Take: Knowshon Moreno makes UGA at least 2 TD's better than a USC team that has a good defense, but only questions and injuries on the other side of the ball. Georgia 35 South Carolina 13

Rice (2-0) at Vanderbilt (2-0), 6 p.m. CDT
Jason's Take Who would have thought this would be a battle of the unbeaten teams even though it's just week three. The Commodores are riding high after a win over South Carolina last week. This one could be scary for Vandy. Vanderbilt 23, Rice 20

Mark's Take: Rice features a high-powered offense and a low-powered defense. The Commodores will have their hands full with Owl QB Chase Clement who has already thrown seven touchdown passes in two games, but Vandy will find a way to pull out another victory. Vanderbilt 31, Rice 27

Stephen's Take: The Commodores are fortunate that their strength is in the secondary as Chase Clement and Jarett Dillard come up just short for the Owls. Vanderbilt 31 Rice 26

dukeofga's Take: Good defense and a senior QB spell success for Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt 31 Rice 13

Middle Tennessee (1-1) at Kentucky (2-0), 6 p.m. CDT, PPV
Jason's Take: Middle Tennessee pulled off one shocker last week by beating a terrible Maryland team by two touchdowns. While they are better than last week's Wildcat opponent, I can't see it happening two weeks in a row. Kentucky 27, Middle Tennessee 17

Mark's Take: Can the Wildcats make it three straight wins to start the season? With the UK defense off to a solid start, why not? Kentucky 20, MTSU 17

Stephen's Take: If the Wildcats can maintain their current level of play then they could easily reach October without a loss. However, the Blue Raiders, who beat Maryland last week, send a reminder that they can't take anyone lightly. Kentucky 20 Middle Tennessee 17

dukeofga's Take: Kentucky's defense will continue to keep their win streak alive while a young offense matures. Kentucky 21 Middle Tennessee 6
