Ford Hoping to Roll Into Playoffs

An Auburn football recruiting report features an update on Dee Ford.

Odenville, Ala.--This is a big week for Auburn football verbal commitment Dee Ford.

On Friday his St. Clair County High School football team faces an important game vs. Oneonta as it tries to secure a spot in the Class 4A state playoffs.

Following a 40-7 victory last week vs. Jacksonville, St. Clair County is 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the region going into its matchup with 7-1 Oneonta, which is 5-1 in the region.

"I played a good game against Jacksonville," he says. "We were playing an option team so my responsibility was the fullback so I didn't make too many plays. The week before I had 17 tackles against Locust Fork. I am not sure how many I had against Jacksonville.

"It was homecoming last week," the six-foot-three, 205-pound senior with sub 4.5 40-yard dash speed says. "The game started out kind of lax, but in the second half we stepped it up."

A summer verbal commitment to Auburn, he says that he talks to Tiger defensive end coach Terry Price every week and notes that he is strongly committed to AU. He says that Price constantly reminds him to make sure to take care of his academics.

"My grades this year are better than last year," he notes. "I am doing very well. I have just one C. This Saturday I am going to be taking the ACT."

Ford says he isn't sure how many tackles he has this season, but notes, "The last time I counted I had 13 sacks."
