Auburn-UTM Game Notes & Quotes

News, notes and quotes from Auburn's 37-20 Homecoming victory over Tennessee-Martin are featured.

Auburn, Ala.--Robert Dunn's decision to attempt to field a first-quarter punt at the goal line resulting in a fumble pounced on for a Tennessee Martin touchdown for an early 7-7 tie was about trying to do too much.

The miscue resulted in the first touchdown allowed in the opening quarter by the Tigers this year.

"It was a matter of me being too anxious getting back on the field," said Dunn, who was held out of punt return duty while recovering from an ankle injury.

"I lost sight of what I was needed to do," he said. "I wanted to make everybody happy so I stepped out of what I was suppose to be doing at the time. Coach (Eddie) Gran told me to get my head on straight and stay focused."

Gran, who coaches Auburn running backs, also handles the special teams.

After Chris Slaughter returned the next Tennessee-Martin punt, Dunn was back on the field for punt return duty the rest of the game. He finished with three returns for 36 yards, including a long return of 31 yards.
