The 15th-ranked Tigers improved their record to 5-0 while UAB fell to 1-3. It was Auburn's 15th straight victory in the series vs. the Blazers, which Auburn leads 29-4. The Tigers have won 23 of the last 24 matchups and enjoyed "homecourt" road advantage with more Auburn fans cheering on the Tigers than were fans supporting the Blazers.
Bonner, a former Fairfield High star, also pulled in eight rebounds for the Tigers. She made9-14 field goals, 11-12 free throws, blocked two shots, had two assists, one steal and just one turnover in 28 minutes of court time.
Freshman guard Morgan Jennings scored 14 points for Auburn and sophomore guard Ree-Ree Hobbs, making her first collegiate start, finished with 10 points. Jenning made 6-8 field goals.
Sherell Hobbs scored nine for Auburn while Alli Smalley and Trevesha Jackson finished with eight apiece.
Amanda Peterson led the Blazers with 20 points. UAB shot just 31.3 percent from the field.
The Tigers overcame a sluggish first half that ended with the contest tied at 32-32 going into intermission. However, the visitors steadily pulled away from UAB soon after the second half started.
During a 16-4 run to go up 62-44, Bonner scored a dozen consecutive points. Auburn hit 22-29 field goals in the second half and shot 64 percent from the field for the game.
"I think we pretty much wore them out," said Auburn coach Nell Fortner. "Bonner pretty much took over in the second half and they couldn't find a way to guard her."
The Auburn coach wasn't happy with her team's ball-handling. The Tigers finished the game with 21 turnovers as they played without senior point guard Whitney Boddie, who hurt a knee in Sunday's victory over Ohio State.
UAB turned the ball over 16 times.
Auburn enjoyed a huge edge in rebounding with 46 to just 26 for the Blazers.
Auburn hit 21-30 foul shots while UAB was 13-18 at the free throw line.
The Tigers will return to action on Saturday at 5 p.m. CST in Miami, Fla., with a matchup vs. North Carolina State in the opening round of the FIU Thanksgiving Classic.
