What Tuberville Departure Means For Cotton

Raymond Cotton Sr. talks about the departure of Tommy Tuberville from Auburn and what that means to his son's recruitment.

Fort Meade, Md.--The news that Tommy Tuberville would no longer be Auburn's head football coach hit the current team hard as evidenced by the comments from both Jason Bosley and Jerraud Powers on Thursday.

It hit possible future Auburn Tigers just as hard as the word spread like wildfire on Wednesday afternoon. One of the players directly affected was Auburn quarterback commitment Raymond Cotton.

The four-star prospect and longtime commitment to the Tigers was hosting Auburn coach Steve Ensminger in his home at the time the news broke, making for an awkward situation for all involved says Raymond Cotton Sr.

Because of Tuberville's departure, Cotton Sr. tells Inside The Auburn Tigers that his son will take his visits in the coming weeks, but will wait until Auburn hires a replacement before making a final decision.

Arkansas and Ole Miss have both called Cotton in the last 24 hours and Cotton Sr. says they are both schools that his son is considering visiting. He doesn't have any official visits scheduled at the moment though.

He notes that his son may or may not back off his commitment, but that it won't change the way he looks at things between now and signing day. He also adds that Raymond and Philip Lutzenkirchen have spoken and will likely still attend the same school with Auburn still definitely in that mix.
