Now things may have taken a different turn for the 5-10, 185 Conner. Familiar with new coach Gene Chizik after his hiring on Friday, Conner says he's looking forward to learning more about him in the coming weeks before making a final decision.
"Right now I know he's a great coach and is coming to a great program," Conner tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "When great coaches come into a great program then great things happen. I know that I'm still looking at them.
"I'm not just de-committed from them. I'm still looking at them hard. I know they've got a good coach and great things can happen. I'm not going to give up on them because they've still got a great team. That's what I want to be a part of, a great team."
With offers from Ole Miss and Mississippi State as well as interest from Alabama and several others, Conner says at the moment he's just taking things in stride and trying to learn as much as possible about Chizik and his new staff before making a final choice.
"I'm just looking right now," Conner says. "I don't know too much about him. I know when he was there he was doing a real good job with the players. He's a great coach. That's my opinion about him."
Conner was one of the few bright spots in Saturday's Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game for the Mississippi team. Despite losing 28-3, Conner was a one-man wrecking crew for his team in the loss.
"I was named MVP for the game," Conner says. "I had seven tackles, one sack, and one blocked punt. We didn't get to stay in too long either. I think I did good without being in the game too much."
Conner says he hasn't set up any official visits at the moment and will likely visit Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State before making a decision.
