Chizik To Visit Four-Star TE

Philip Lutzenkirchen (6-4, 250) gives a recruiting update.

Marietta, Ga.—Without a full staff in place to recruit, it has been a scramble for new Auburn head coach Gene Chizik to reach out to the class of 2009 commitments and prospects.

Chizik has been getting recruiting help from Auburn staff members Phillip Lolley, Jimmy Perry and Joe Whitt Sr. to try to get in touch with recruits, and one of the priorities is four-star commitment Philip Lutzenkirchen from Lassiter High School in Marietta, Ga.

Although Lutzenkirchen has yet to meet Chizik in person, that is expected to change this weekend. "Nothing has changed," Lutzenkirchen says of his commitment to Auburn. "Chizik is coming to see me Saturday."

Per NCAA rules, Saturday is the final day that college coaches can be on the road making in-home visits until Jan. 4. Auburn was up to 25 commitments at one point and is currently at 20 as of Wednesday morning.

Lutzenkirchen took an official visit to Florida State on Nov. 8, to Auburn on Nov. 15 and also visited Tennnessee unofficially this past weekend.
