"I met with Coach Chizik and three other coaches (Phillip Lolley, Jimmy Perry and Joe Whitt) at my home on Friday evening," Ford tells Inside the Auburn Tigers. "I talked with them for about an hour.
"It was a good meeting," Ford says. "I feel better about things now--way better. I am all set to come to Auburn and I am ready to get it cranked."
Ford says he set up an official visit date (Jan. 16th) and notes he is firmly committed to play for the Tigers.
"Coach Chizik told me as soon as he gets my position coach he would send him straight to my house and he would talk about all of that," Ford notes. "He didn't tell me who the position coach would be. He did say he is going to have a lot of his staff hired after the Christmas holidays."
Dee Ford was a standout at an Auburn football camp this past summer. He is known for his quickness and pass rushing ability.
Commenting on his impression after having his first meeting with Chizik, who was announced a week earlier as Auburn's new head coach, Ford says, "He is the kind of person I like. We covered a lot of topics. He basically told me what he thought of Auburn and told me about himself and his time when he was at Auburn. He told me a lot about his life and his family."
Ford says Chizik talked about the importance of playing great defense and says that Chizik told him the St. Clair County High star is definitely a part of the new coaching staff's plans to make that happen.
"I am looking forward to my official visit," Ford adds. "I will get to meet his wife and children."
