Conner In No Hurry for a Final Decision

Former Auburn commitment David Conner talks recruiting and his plans for making a choice on where he wants to play his college football.

Batesville, Miss.--An early commitment to the Auburn Tigers, defensive back David Conner from South Panola High is patiently waiting to see how Gene Chizik's staff comes together with the Tigers. Until then he says he plans to enjoy the Christmas break before getting into making his final decision on a college.

"Everything is going pretty good right now," Conner tells Inside The Auburn Tigers,. "I'm just trying to enjoy this little break from school."

While Chizik has been busy trying to reach as many of Auburn's commitments and prospects as possible, Conner says he's still waiting to hear from the new boss of the Tigers. Knowing that he's busy at the moment trying to get his staff together, Conner says he's still seriously looking at the Tigers and will wait to see how things shake out on the Plains and how he meshes with Chizik before making his choice.

"I'm just taking things slow right now," Conner says. "I'm just relaxing with it. My season is over now so I'm just trying to get my mind right. I just want to get everything right because when I make my mind up that's where I'm going to be. I'm just trying to make the right decision."

While the Tigers are on the radar, Conner notes that he's got several collges on his final list and is planning to set up official visits for those schools in January. He adds that his visits will help him figure out which school is the best fit for him.

"Right now it's Auburn, Ole Miss, Alabama, UAB and Southern Miss," Conner says. "I'm just looking for some place like home and someplace I'm comfortable. When I take my visits I want to meet with everybody and see how I fit in."

One of the top high school seniors in Mississippi, Conner played safety, linebacker and some defensive end for the powerful South Panola program. He finished 2008 with 100 tackles, a team-high eight sacks and two interceptions."
