Phillp Lutzenkirchen Sets Visits
"I have scheduled two official visits," said Philip Lutzenkirchen. "I am going to Alabama next weekend (1/16) and Tennessee the next (1/23). I probably won't take any other visits. I will use the last weekend to stay home and think about my decision. I will then probably commit on signing day."
"Everything is really wide open right now. Once I meet with coach [Gus] Malzahn I will have a better understanding of what Auburn is going to do. I will then see how my visits go to Alabama and Tennessee. I'll then make the best decision."
Lutzenkirchen received in-home visits in December from Auburn head coach Gene Chizik and Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin plans to trip after the official visit. He has received visits from assistant coaches and will have another visitor on Wednesday.
""[Lance] Thompson from Alabama and coach [Jim] Chaney from Tennessee visited," he said. "They came Monday and Tuesday of this week. Coach Malzahn is coming tomorrow for a visit."
"The visit with coach Thompson went good. He came by the school. We talked for about 20-30 minutes. We just set up a date for my official visit and hung out."
"The visit with coach Chaney went good as well. He is the new offensive coordinator. He told me about himself and where all he had been. They are going to run a pro-style offense and use spread components."
"I really don't know much about coach Malzahn yet. I will have a chance to talk to him tomorrow. When I met with coach Chizik I really liked him. He reminds me a lot of coach Tuberville. He is more energetic and more vocal."
Lutzenkirchen talked about the reasons for visiting the Volunteers and the Crimson Tide.
"Tennessee is close to home," he said. "I like all of their tradition. They are always one of the strong schools in the SEC. I like what coach Kiffin did at USC recruiting-wise and as the offensive coordinator. I like their facilities and campus."
"I like Alabama for a lot of the same reasons. I like coach Saban a lot. They also have great facilities and a nice campus."
