Forward Out of Action for Lebo's Tigers

Coach Jeff Lebo's Tigers will be playing without one of their big men as they open the Southeastern Conference basketball season.

Columbia, S.C.--Junior forward Johnnie Lett will not play in Saturday night's SEC men's basketball opener for the Auburn Tigers vs. the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The first-year Tiger from Mobile is academically ineligible for the contest, according to team sources. It is not certain when the 6-8 forward will be able to play again.

Coach Jeff Lebo said on Saturday, "He stayed behind to work on some eligibility issues."

Lett, a transfer from Okaloosa-Walton Community College in Florida, has played in all 14 games for the 10-4 Tigers with eight starts.

He is averaging 3.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He has hit 20-37 field goals and 10-25 free throws.

The 10-4 Tigers go into the game with a seven-game winning streak. Tipoff is set for shortly after 6 p.m. CST.
