Lett Returning for SEC Home Opener

An Auburn men's basketball report features good news for Coach Jeff Lebo.

Auburn, Ala.--Junior forward Johnnie Lett has been cleared to play for Coach Jeff Lebo's Tigers and will be ready for action on Wednesday night in Auburn's SEC basketball home opener vs. the Florida Gators.

Lett did not make the trip to Columbia, S.C., for Auburn's SEC road opener vs. South Carolina due to an academic issue that has been resolved.

The first-year Tiger from Mobile, who is a 6-8 post player, is averaging 3.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He has hit 20-37 field goals and 10-25 free throws.

However, Lebo says the statistics don't tell the whole story. "Johnnie has played much better in recent games and gives us a strong post presence on defense," he notes.

Lebo also points out that with Lett available again that will take some of the load off of senior Korvotney Barber, who the coach says ran out of gas after having to play too many minutes vs. South Carolina.

Lett, a transfer from Okaloosa-Walton Community College in Florida, has played in 14 games for the Tigers with eight starts.

The 10-5 Tigers had their seven-game winning streak snapped at South Carolina as they fell 68-56. They will try to do the same thing to Florida, which is 12-2 overall and 1-0 in the SEC with an eight-game winning streak.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CST with the game televised regionally by Raycom Sports and it is also on ESPN360.
