Jones Gives AU Visit High Marks

Six-foot-two, 265-pound defensive lineman prospect DeQuinta Jones of Bastrop, La., High School comments on his official visit to Auburn.

Bastrop, La.—Long-time Michigan commitment DeQuinta Jones took an official visit to Auburn over the weekend and came away impressed with what the football program had to offer.

"I knew it was going to be a good visit, but it exceeded all of my expectations," Jones says. "It was a good visit. I enjoyed myself."

Asked what the best part of the visit was, Jones responded, "I would have to say the whole thing. Basically everything went good."

Jones committed to Michigan in late July but has been looking at other schools recently, visiting Arkansas officially last weekend as well.

Jones says that after his trip to Auburn that the Tigers are now up there among his leaders. "They are up very high," he says of Auburn. "Michigan, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Auburn."

Jones says he is planning on taking an official to Michigan next weekend and is unsure if he will take another on Jan. 30, the final weekend before signing day on Feb. 4.

"I'm still committed to them," Jones says of Michigan.

When will he make a final decision? "I would have to say it's going to be on signing day," Jones replies.

Jones' player host was Auburn senior defensive lineman Jake Ricks.

"Friday I got to hotel probably about 9 p.m." Jones says. "I checked in and everything, stayed there and went and ate dinner with all of the coaches and all of the recruits. Saturday we went and they toured me around the whole campus. I went to the agricultural building and talked to the woman that was over there. We went to the basketball game at 1 p.m., left from there and went to the hotel. We went to dinner at the Tigers' Den (the recruiting room at the stadium), went to the locker room, put on our jerseys, took pictures and walked on the field. We came back and I had a good time with my host."
