"The visit went good," Travis says. "I got to meet Coach (Gene) Chizik and the whole crew and pretty much I liked them. They are generally a nice crew. I'm looking forward to talking more with coach Rocker.
"I have been offered," he adds. "At first I did not think I was going to get offered. I was sitting down talking with coach (Chizik) and he just offered me. I was excited. I have been waiting on an offer from Auburn. I'm not sure whether I'm going to commit or not. I have committed to Southern Miss and I'm just going to see how it goes."
Hosted on his visit by former high school teammate Jared Cooper, Travis says that getting the chance to hang out with him was a big help on getting to know more about Auburn. Very familiar with the Tiger program, Travis says Cooper's understanding of the new coaching staff is even bigger for him.
"It's a lot better because you know he's going to tell you the straight-out truth of how it is," Travis says. "He just said he loves it. I know if he loves it, being from the same town and the same team, I know I would too."
Recruited to play defensive tackle by the Tigers, Travis compares very favorably to former Auburn standout Tommy Jackson up front. Because of his position, Travis says the chance to play for someone like Tracy Rocker is something that is intriguing to him to say the least.
"If you watch that Ole Miss team this year they had one of the best defensive lines," Travis says. "He's an outstanding guy. I'm thinking about how good of a coach he would be for me. I'm looking forward to being the best I can be.
"It would be a great opportunity to be coached by someone of that caliber, that good."
Now Travis is faced with the ultimate decision. Do you stick with your commitment or choose the school that has been your favorite for months. Travis says it's something he'll have to really mull over before making his final choice.
"It eliminated a couple of schools, but it made it a lot harder," Travis says. "Coach Anderson has been there since day one. He saw me through all my classes and made sure I was qualified. It will be a tough decision.
"Everybody knows I grew up an Alabama fan, but I've been to Auburn over a dozen times," he adds. "I tried to commit back before the old coaching staff left. I love Auburn. With Jared being here it makes it even harder."
Travis says now he'll talk things over with his family members before coming to a final decision sometime on Monday. He says that he may have that decision by Monday morning, but sometime after school is when he'll announce things.
