Visit Puts Tigers In The Mix For King

Linebacker Greg King discusses his official visit to Auburn and where he stands on making a decision.

Memphis, Tenn.--With only five scholarship linebackers returning off last year's team, the position is obviously one of need for the Auburn Tigers in the 2009 recruiting class. One of the players who is being targeted at the spot is athletic Greg King from Melrose High.

Having already visited Tennessee and Texas Tech with those two schools the leaders coming in, King says that his trip to Auburn has put the Tigers into the mix heading into signing day with only the Tigers and the Vols left standing.

"I look forward to making a good decision," King says. "It's going to be kind of hard. They (Auburn) made plenty of ground up. They said they were going to do it and they did it. I'm just going to wait and see what it comes down to."

Hosted by Auburn middle linebacker Josh Bynes, the 6-3, 202 King says that he really enjoyed having the chance to hang out with the Auburn players and specifically his host. He also talked about his time spent with defensive coordinator Ted Roof.

"It was just exciting and the players were great," King says. "They were awesome. It doesn't get any better than that. They showed me a good time. That's what it was about really, coming down to see the players and the coaches. Get along good with them and see how the environment was.

"Coach Roof is cool man," King adds. "He's crazy too. We get along cool. We talked football. He's a real good coach and I can see myself being coached by him. He said he will be coaching linebackers and wants me.

Saying that he will announce his decision at his high school library on signing day, King says right now he's trying to figure out which school is the best for him based on some certain things he's been looking for.

"It's just really if I had a good feeling that this was it," King says. "I had that gut feeling at Tennessee, but it's doing flips now. It's not that easy any more. The decision is coming."
