Auburn men's head basketball coach Jeff Lebo said on Thursday that Lett's ankle injury in practice earlier this week is still being evaluated.
Lebo notes that Lett was injured before practice even started.
"It was just a freak thing," the coach says. "They were just doing warmups and nobody was around it and he blew the tape job right out of the side. I have never seen that before."
Lebo notes that when the ankle didn't swell immediately that could be either real good news or something more serious if the swelling started a day later, which happened. The coach says that it will likely be early next week before AU knows how long Lett could be sidelined.
Auburn struggled on the boards without the six-foot-eight Lett available on Wednesday night. Lebo points out that Tennessee, Auburn's opponent on Saturday, is the number one rated offensive rebounding team in the SEC, one spot ahead of an Ole Miss team that used strong play on the offensive boards to whip the Tigers 78-59.
Tipoff for Saturday's Tennessee at Auburn game is noon at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum. Auburn is 13-9 overall and 2-5 in the SEC. UT is 14-7 overall and 5-2 in the league.
