"I have three offers," James tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I've got Arkansas, Clemson and Auburn. I'm also hearing from a lot of schools like Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Florida, and North Carolina."
A high school teammate of Auburn signees Terrence Coleman and LaVoyd James, James is very familiar with the Tigers. Having made several trips to the campus over the last few years, he says that right now he likes Auburn, but isn't ready to name them a leader.
"I like a lot about Auburn," James says. "It feels like home up there. I'm not saying that's where I'm going, but it's hard to explain. Having Terrence and LaVoyd up there helps them a whole lot knowing I've been around them since my ninth grade year. I have grown up with them for four years. It might play a role in things."
A starter since part of the way in his freshman season, James had a strong junior year for the Lions in the middle of the defense. He finished the year with over 80 tackles, five tackles for a loss and also added five interceptions.
Planning to visit Auburn on March 7 for a junior day, James says he hopes to check out several more schools before his senior season begins to make sure he's got a good list heading into the fall.
"It's very important to check out the schools," James says. "It helps me to know my surroundings for when I make my decision. The surroundings and environment will play a big role for me."
This spring James will throw the shot put and discus for the Williamson track team while also continuing to run and lift to prepare for his senior season of football.
