Auburn Football Scrimmage Notes

News and notes on Auburn's second major spring scrimmage are featured with a report on a key player who was injured.

Auburn, Ala.--News and notes from Saturday's Auburn football scrimmage, which was won by the defense in Gene Chizik's scoring system, are featured.

*Starting safety Michael McNeil injured a leg in Saturday's scrimmage and was taken from the stadium in an ambulance. Chizik said he didn't know how serious the injury is, but others said the initial report is he broke a bone in his leg.

*Sophomore cornerback Neiko Thorpe had an approximately 72-yard interception return of a Neil Caudle pass to score a touchdown. The receiver, Harry Adams, ran the wrong route on the play.

*Adams, who moved from cornerback to offense on Thursday, worked as a backup at an outside receiver spot behind Tim Hawthorne. He was in for 15 snaps.

*Sophomore cornerback D'Antoine Hood had a sack on Kodi Burns that caused a fumble the defense recovered.

*Onterrio McCalebb and Justin Albert got most of the running back reps after Ben Tate took a blow to the head early in the scrimmage.

*Burns had some problems holding onto the football with snaps and had several fumbles.

*Burns and Caudle got the snaps with the first team, just as was the case on Thursday. Barrett Trotter worked with the twos.

*Caudle escaped a big rush from Cameron Henderson, who was very active at defensive end, and scored on a short touchdown run.

*Henderson intercepted a pass in the scrimmage.

*Opelika High standout running back Corey Grant attended the scrimmage.

*Running back Lache Seastrunk from Temple, Tex., attended the scrimmage. He is Scout.com's No. 2 rated prospect at his position.

*Another highly regarded prospect, wide receiver Trovon Reed, made the trip up from Louisiana to watch the scrimmage.
